We added a new capability into our installation/configuration process. It's called:
"Checkpoint" Interact understands that upgrades contain risk. Even if we, Interact, believe that there should be no problems encountered during the upgrade process, we know our customers want risk mitigation. Customers want a backup plan in case the upgrade doesn't go as planned. A rollback plan is a necessity in any upgrade or configuration change. Checkpoint is a system allowing restoration of a previous install with configuration. This allows you to mitigate risks involved in upgrades or configuration changes by saving the current configuration. Rollback is a simple matter of running the checkpoint script and selecting the saved checkpoint you wish to redeploy. Checkpoint does the following: - automatically triggered by the install script to create checkpoints at reconfigurations, upgrades, and rollbacks - offers an interface to allow the user to create a checkpoint and supply the name - offers an interface to allow Rollback/Rollforward to any checkpoint on the system - offers an interface to view checkpoint information and delete old checkpoints You can check out the checkpoint interface by running: /interact/install/checkpoint |
